Overview

Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake Trekking lead to the scenic and cultural areas of high Manang Valley. Manang is a beautiful country in the Far North Mid-West Nepal, beyond the Annapurna Himalayas.  The Annapurna Circuit is also one of the world’s top adventure destinations. Trekkers can experience all types of climates, vegetation, and landscapes along with daily stunning of the snow-capped mountain ranges. Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake Treks lead around the northern sides of the massif Annapurna Himalayas.  Close to Annapurna-II, III, and IV with Gangapurna Himal, which falls on the Annapurna Himalayan range.  Besides the Annapurna, trekkers will be walking amidst Lamjung Himal, Pisang, Chulu’s, and Tilicho Peaks. As well as grand views of Dhaulagiri Himal on crossing over the high Thorang-La Pass towards the Mustang region.

Adventure that most trekkers prefer due to its magnificent scenery along the daily walks. As the trail follows, from one lovely village to another impressive settlement, all villages are adorned with ancient heritage cultures.  The adventure starts with an exciting overland journey from the lower warm area of paddy farms. The walk follows the Masrsyangdi River right up to its source at Manang Valley and Tilicho Lake. Then, the trail leads the high alpine green hills to enter the picturesque Manang Valley.  From here onward, the walk leads within the mountainous region with a touch of high altitude, enjoying rest days at Manang Village.

Manang Village is a perfect place and altitude for rest and acclimatization days to explore the beautiful villages and scenic viewpoints.
After an enjoyable time at Manang Village, the adventure follows to our next highlight destination, Tilicho Lake. The trail follows away from the main route of Annapurna Circuit towards the south, around the windswept country. On leaving Manang Village, the route leads away from the main villages and a crowd of trekkers for some days in complete wilderness amidst towering mountains. The walk leads to rugged terrain with downs and steep ups to reach Tilicho Lake, the world’s highest glacial lake.

It is revered as a holy site for Hindu followers, although the region of Buddhism religion. Enjoy the pristine environment with the backdrop of the towering peaks of Gangapurna and Tilicho Himal. From Tilicho Lake after a magnificent experience exploring the lakes and its scenic surroundings. The adventure continues, heading on the uphill trail to join the Annapurna Circuit route, overlooking fabulous views of Chulu peaks.

Then, the walk slowly reaches the end of Manang Valley at Thorang Phedi and High Camp. Enjoying the last overnight halt around Manang areas, an early morning walk leads to a steep climb to cross Thorang-La Pass.  The highest points of the adventure with spectacular panorama of the Mid-West Himalayan ranges with Chulu’s, Annapurna, and Damodar Himal, as far as Manaslu towards the east. Include the grand vista of Dhaulagiri Himal in the west with a Mustang range of peaks.

After great exciting moments, achieving the goal and success of the adventures, then leaving the Manang areas. The walk heads downhill towards the scenic Mustang region at Muktinath, with a famous temple regarded as the holiest pilgrimage site. At Muktinath, hundreds of Hindu followers visit from all over Nepal and India.  At Muktinath, our wonderful adventurous trekking completes, taking a short drive to Jomsom. The headquarters town of the Mustang district is located on the old Trans Himalayan Trade Route of Nepal and Tibet.

Spending a pleasant overnight at Jomsom, an early morning swift scenic flight brings you to the picturesque city of Pokhara. A renowned tourist destination Pokhara is blessed by nature with snowy mountains and serene lakes. Pokhara is a perfect spot to complete our wonderful adventure Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake Trekking.

Itinerary

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by staff and guide and for a short drive to your hotels. Situated in the hub of Kathmandu city, around Thamel an exciting location. After checking into your rooms with refreshment our guides will brief regarding the treks. Evening a welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurant to get familiar with the culture and Nepali food.

Morning after breakfast, an exciting tour of Nepalese culture and historical tour around Nepal's landmarks and World Heritage Sites. Rest of the day after an interesting tour, with time for trek preparations.

After breakfast, depart for Bhesishar Town, located Nepal Mid-West around
Lamjung district. An opportunity to observe the Nepal’s rural life as drive heads
Beyond Kathmandu Valley. The drives cover 176 km or 109 miles to reach
Bhesishar Town, an exciting journey following the Kathmandu and Pokhara
Highway for few hours. Then route diverts from Dumre Town to Bhesishar, the
headquarters town of Lamjung District. On arrival transfer into a nice hotel or
lodge, having time to explore Bhesishar Town market. Observe the local culture
of both Hindu and Buddhism religions.

From Bhesishar morning another exciting drive towards Manang district to reach Dharapani Village. The drive follows along Masrsyangdi River to Syange village, from here on winding rough road to Jagat and Chamje Villages. Then enter Manang district at Tal Besi, a short hour drive leads to Dharapani village for overnight stop in the comfort of a nice lodge. From here the air gets cooler from Dharapani village onwards, located at the junction of Annapurna and Manaslu Circuit route.

Enjoying a pleasant overnight in Dharapani walks starts towards higher areas of Manang, around the northern areas of Annapurna Himal. The morning walk follows on the winding path into cool rhododendron and pine forest.
The walk leads through Bagarchap and Danaque villages, and then climb for an hour to Timang a large village. From here onwards amidst strong Buddhist religion and culture, enjoy the views of Mt. Manaslu and Lamjung Himal. At Timang village for lunch, afternoon walk continues to Koto village. From Koto short climb on gradual path to Chame for overnight stop. Chame the headquarters town of Manang district with many good lodges, and views of Lamjung Himal.

After Chame the second day walk continues heading closer towards Manang Valley. The walk follows through dense pine and rhododendron tree lines to Bhratang Village. From here cross a bridge above Masrsyangdi River with short climb to a hill top. This small settlement is called Dukure Pokhari, stopping for lunch with views of Pisang Peak and Annapurna II and IV.
After lunch walk leads down to Pisang Village for overnight in a nice lodge with grand views of surrounding snow-capped peaks.

From Pisang Village enters the scenic Manang Valley, after breakfast walk leads through dense tree lines. Then a short climb on a winding path to reach a
scenic ridge, enjoy the views of Manang Valley. Surrounded by Annapurna II, III, and Gangapurna Himal with Chulu’s and Pisang peak. From here walk down to Hongde village with a small airstrip. The walk enters the Manang Valley and then reaching Braga village with an old monastery. Having time for short tour of the old and interesting Monastery enriched with ancient Buddhist relics.
After visit of the monastery, short walk to Manang village, the houses are built in a traditional Tibetan style. Manang people are known for rich heritage culture and traditions. At Manang for overnight stop in the comfort of a nice lodge accommodations with grand vista of snow peaks.

Enjoy rest day in Manang Village for acclimatization before heading towards Tilicho Lake and the climb to high Thorang-La Pass. At Manang village, the best and short hike is to Gangapurna Himal Icefall. The trail follows down to Masrsyangdi River, after the bridge a short climb to the viewpoint. Stand beneath the Gangapurna Himal massif Icefall and glaciers with views of Annapurna II, III with Manang small Glacial Lake.

Morning walk from Manang leads to Tilicho Lake, the route diverts from the main popular trail. As walk leads on off the beaten tracks with close views of high Himalayan peaks. The trail leads around windswept and barren landscapes to Khangsar village for overnight halt. The last permanent village after Manang en route to Tilicho Lake.

From Khangsar, morning leads to climb towards high hill facing close views of Gangapurna Himalaya with Tilicho Peaks. Walking along with exciting views of dramatic landscapes. The walk follows to scree of small rocks with narrow path as climb continues to reach Tilicho Base Camp. An isolated spot with facilities of few small nice lodges.

The walk follows steep up towards a high ridge, and then descend over rocky
dune. Then reaching the turquoise colored Tilicho Lake, facing mind blowing
views of stunning scenery of surrounding high snow peaks.

Hindus also believes that Tilicho Lake mentioned in the epic Ramayana where the
Sage Kak Bhushundi believed to have first told the happenings of Ramayana to
Garuda - king of birds at Tilicho Lake. After a marvelous visit of Tilicho Lake and
Its beautiful surroundings, return journey towards base camp and beyond to
Siri-Kharka for overnight stop.

After achieving the highlight of the adventure, morning walk follows on gradual winding path towards Khangsar. Then the walk leads to join on the main Annapurna Circuit route towards Ghunsang village. The walk continues with close views of Chulu West peaks and Gangapurna Himal. Enjoying the short scenic walk then reach Yak Kharka for lunch and overnight stop. Rest of the afternoon, take a short walk facing grand views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Another day of short walks but takes quite longer, due to the gain in altitude, morning from Yak Kharka. A pleasant gradual walk to Ledar, a small settlement which en route to Chulu West Peak base camp. From here the walk heads down to a stream, with short climb and then on gentle trail leads to Phedi.
The base of Thorang-La Pass, having refreshing rest at the end or Manang Valley rim, enclosed by great rocky cliffs. From Phedi a short steep climb brings you to
Thorang High Camp for lunch and overnight halt. Rest of the afternoon enjoy short walks and marvel the dramatic views of Chulu and Damodar Himal Peaks.

From the High Camp, start the adventure having an early breakfast, then get ready for the big climb. The walk starts on gradual small path, then uphill
with slow and steady climb to a small flat area. Close to a small glacial ponds, and then the walk leads to steep climb on top of Thorang-La Pass.
The Pass is marked with a board with name of the pass, and height, festooned with thousands of prayer flags. Enjoy the glorious morning panorama of the surrounding giant peaks. Facing views of the Chulu’s, Annapurna’s, Damodar Himal and Dhaulagiri Himal ranges. The view extends as far as Manaslu Himalayas towards east. From the top, a long downhill to reach at the bottom of Thorang-La around Mustang district. The walk from the west base camp of Thorang-La, follows on gradual trail to Muktinath for overnight stop.
Muktinath is a holy pilgrimage sites for the Hindus followers, the word Muktinath literally means ‘a place for Nirvana or Liberation’. The lodges are located little further down from the temple premises at a place called Pani Pawa on the road head.

Morning having time for visit and prayer, at Muktinath, the history and purity goes back into antiquity. Of more than 2,300 years, where Hindu and Buddhist come on a pilgrimage to this holy sites of natural power.
The visit leads to the Temple of Muktinath and 108 water spout, which is also the source of Kaligandaki River. Pilgrims also search for fossil known as Shaligram (ammonite), a small smooth rocks. When the black rock is split open, it reveals the imprint of ammonites formed some 140 million years ago.
Due to its wheel-like shape the Shaligram is associated with the Hindu god Vishnu.
Muktinath area offers grand views of Dhaulagiri, including Tilicho and Nilgiri’s peaks. After a holy visit of Muktinath, walk down to the lodge and pack for a short drive to Jomsom Town. Our treks completes in the comfort of a nice lodge and hotels at Jomsom, the headquarters town of Mustang district. The areas of Mustang of strong Tibetan influence, the drive heads down to Kaligandaki River
Valley. Then on gradual path to reach Jomsom Town, and get transferred into
a nice hotels or lodge. Afternoon explore the town, the main inhabitants are Thakali. The tribes of Kaligandaki of Lower Mustang follows Buddhism religion.

Morning a short walk to Jomsom airport for scenic and short flight to beautiful Pokhara. During airborne fantastic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan peaks, as the aircraft lands at Pokhara. Pokhara one of the most sought touristic destinations in all Himalaya, a picturesque city overlooking views of massive Annapurna Himalaya, Includes views of the famous and magnificent Machhapuchare Himal 'Fish Tail'. From the airport a short drive to the hotels by the serene Phewa Lake side, with time to explore beautiful Pokhara.

Morning with leisure time for breakfast in Pokhara, as time for a short flight to Kathmandu. Transfer to Pokhara airport, board in an aircraft, during flight enjoy the grand panorama of the Himalayan range of peaks. On landing at Kathmandu airport transfer to your respective hotels, rest of the day at leisure.

Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, after a great experience on Annapurna Circuit & Tilicho Lake Trekking. As time for the international flight transfer to Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport. Then bid farewell to the guide, staff as you enter the airport terminal for homeward bound flight, or to next port of call.

Is Annapurna Circuit & Tilicho Lake a tough walk?

Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake, is not that tough and difficult as it looks.
The only hard is climbing on steep ridge with high altitude and thin air.
The walk starts on gradual trail with slow climb, the elevation gains slowly as you get acclimatized during the walks. The only tough is walking on narrow scree path to Tilicho Base Camp. The other tough section is climb to high Thorang-La Pass,
taking slow with some rest will make the walk enjoyable. Rest of the walks is on gradual path with few short ups and downhill till to the end of treks.

What age group can join on Annapurna Circuit trek?

As this trek leads to steep ups and downhill of total 12 days of walking with rest days. The trek involves walking on high altitude, so we recommend minimum age of 14 and maximum of 70 years old. But all should be in good physical shape and with sound health, for person below 18 years. Should be accompanied by parents or guardians and all trekkers needs to buy Travel and Medical Insurance also for the trek.

Is Annapurna Circuit & Tilicho Lake a popular trek?

It is one of the most popular and favorite region for scenic and cultural experience, among all wide-world visitors. Especially, the full Annapurna Circuit few groups of trekkers seldom visits Tilicho Lake. As the itinerary days will be much longer for some trekkers.

Are there facilities of electricity and internets, WI-FI?

Nearly all the villages and lodges, have electricity run by Hydro or Solar Powers. Trekkers can enjoy the facilities, charging electronic items, as well with Internet and Wi-Fi services. But some smaller places like Tilicho Base Camp, Sri-Kharka to Yak Kharka, and Thorang High Camp the internet and WI-FI, are quite slow and disturbing. Due to weather and landscape wise, other places runs well with cell phone or internets.
