Overview

Annapurna & Dhaulagiri Panorama Trekking is the shortest and most enjoyable country walk, around the green hills of Southern Annapurna. 

Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Panorama Trekking takes you to scenic hilltops at Ghorepani and Poon Hill. It is one of the picturesque and best viewpoints around the Himalayas for a stunning sunrise. As well as for more than 360° panorama of the Himalayan Mountain ranges with the world’s three highest peaks.

Namely, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, and Annapurna-I, 8,091 m, include Machhapuchare Himal, the famous Fish-Tail Peak. Besides the spectacular views of snow peaks, the local culture and surroundings are equally fascinating to experience. The scenic walk follows amidst the beautiful forest, lined with tall rhododendrons, magnolia, pines, oaks, and fir trees. 

The area around Ghorepani and Poon Hill is regarded as the world’s natural rhododendrons garden. Trekkers can witness various species of rhododendrons, with other wildflowers, during the springtime.  

Annapurna & Dhaulagiri panorama trekking starts and ends at beautiful Pokhara, a city blessed with beauty and natural wonders. The trek from Pokhara involves a short scenic drive to start the walks to the high hills of the Annapurna Himalayas.

Lead to an exciting walk from sub-tropical paddy areas and then reach the cooler alpine hill within a few days of trekking. The trail follows from warm, low farmland with a climb to Ulleri and towards Ghorepani Villages.
Ghorepani is at the base of Poon Hill, as well as on the old Trans Himalayan Salt Trade Route. It extends towards Tibet, China, via Upper Mustang high country, where mules and horsed laden with merchant’s goods. Passed through Ghorepani, and it was the vantage point to water the horses and mules. Hence the name Ghode-Pani, a place with water for horses, later it became Ghorepani. 

At Ghorepani, an early morning hike to reach on top of Poon Hill, the highest point of the trek. Rewards stunning sunrise views with the panorama of the Himalayan range of snow peaks.

After an enjoyable and exciting time at Ghorepani and Poon Hill, return journey back to Pokhara. The trek leads on an alternative route, which makes a short circuit of Annapurna Hill Treks. The climb leads through lovely dense woods to Tadapani and downhill to the large Ghandruk Village.
At Ghandruk, explore the local cultures with the superb views of Annapurna Peaks. Finally, the walk slowly ends, with an exciting drive to Pokhara after a great experience on Annapurna & Dhaulagiri Panorama Trekking.

Itinerary

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by staff and guide and for a short drive to your hotels. Situated in the hub of Kathmandu city, around Thamel an exciting location. After checking into your rooms with refreshment our guides will brief regarding the treks. Evening a welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurant to get familiar with the culture and Nepali food.

Morning after breakfast, an exciting tour of Nepalese culture and historical tour around Nepal's landmarks and World Heritage Sites. Rest of the day after an interesting tour, with time for trek preparations.

Leaving early morning for Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Panorama trekking, with an overland journey to reach scenic Pokhara. A city, blessed with nature of rolling green hills and lakes, in the close shadow of Annapurna Himalaya with majestic Machhapuchare "Fish Tail". Drive takes about 5-6 hours to cover 220 k.m. distance to reach Pokhara, and then transfer to a nice hotel, by the Phewa Lake.
Traveling by air, which is 30 mins panoramic flight with grand views of the Himalayan all the way until it lands at Pokhara.

Morning a short drive of two hours to Nayapul, the drive then leads on rough country dirt tracks. Heading past lovely Bhirethati village, as the drive leads up on winding road to reach the farm villages at Hille. From here the walk starts with slow uphill to Thirkhedhunga village, with beautiful waterfalls.
After the bridge a steep climb on stone steps for few hours to Ulleri village, a moderate size village. From here to Ghorepani is populated by the Poon-Magar people, the main hill tribes of Western Nepal. Overnight in the comfort of a nice local lodges built in traditional style with slated roofs.

Enjoy the morning views of surrounding beautiful landscapes of rolling hills with series of farm terraces. Includes views of Annapurna peaks, from Ulleri walk leads to our major destination to Ghorepani Village. Enjoy a short morning walks of few hours, after breakfast in Ulleri. The walk follows on gradual winding ups through cool shade of rhododendrons and pine forest. After a pleasant walk reaching Ghorepani village, located on a high ridge, amidst beautiful rhododendron and pine forest. At Ghorepani transfer to a nice lodge for lunch and overnight with stunning views of Dhaulagiri Himal. Afternoon at leisure for short walk around with scenic surroundings, and marvel the beautiful views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks.

Rising early morning before break of dawn to catch the sunrise from high Poon Hill. From the lodge at Ghorepani an hour or more climb to the top of scenic Viewpoint of Poon Hill. The highest point of the adventure at 3,210 m high, rewards stunning sunrise over chain of Himalayan peaks. From Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Nilgiri’s peaks with Vara Shikar (Annapurna Fang), stretches to massive Annapurna Himalayan range of peaks. Includes Manaslu as far as Ganesh Himal towards east horizon with ever present majestic Machhapuchare Himal, the famous Fish-Tail peak. After a glorious sunrise and mountain views with refreshing morning climb, down to Ghorepani for breakfast.

The walk from Ghorepani leads up into dense forest to Deurali ridge, almost the same height as Poon Hill. Enjoy the fantastic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayas, then down to a gorge to Bhanthati. A small settlement with several lodges and restaurants, for possible lunch stop. Afternoon down to a stream, and then climb to Tadapani for overnight halt in a nice lodge. Tadapani, situated within dense forest surrounding with tremendous views of Annapurna Himalayas.

Morning facing fabulous views of the Annapurna peaks, after breakfast a nice pleasant walk to Ghandruk Village. The trail follows through lovely forest on gradual gentle path, then down to a stream. After crossing a small bridge, then on downhill to Ghandruk village for lunch. Ghandruk, a large village of the Gurung, the main hill tribes of southern Annapurna range. Time permitting explore the village and Gurung museum, after enjoying time in Ghandruk. A short walk to the road-head and then board in vehicles for scenic drive to Pokhara. The road follows through Bhirethati and Nayapul to join the main Pokhara and Baglung, Beni Highway. After few hours of exciting drive reach Pokhara, then transfer into the nice hotels. Afternoon explore the lakeside lined with fancy shops and restaurants.

Morning with leisure time for breakfast in Pokhara, as time for a short flight to
Kathmandu. Transfer to Pokhara airport, board in an aircraft, during flight enjoy
the grand panorama of the Himalayan range of peaks. On landing at Kathmandu
airport transfer to your respective hotels, rest of the day at leisure.

Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, after a great experience on Annapurna & Dhaulagiri Panorama Trekking. As time for the international flight transfer to Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport. Then bid farewell to the guide, staff as you enter the airport terminal for homeward bound flight, or to next port of call.

Do we need permits for this trek to Annapurna and Dhaulagiri panorama?

The permits required for this short scenic adventure are TIMS (Trekking Information Management Systems). Includes ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) permits, which will be obtained by the local company.
When you book for this trek, the permits will be ready by the time you depart for the treks.

What age group can join for this trek to Ghorepani and Poon Hill?

All age group can join on this short and cultural scenic country walks to
Ghorepani and Poon Hill. From families with children to elderly people, but all needs to be in good physically shape and in good health. As the walk leads to

steep uphill for few hours. The best and shorts treks, where trekkers do not have to worry about catching High Altitude Sickness.

Nearly all the villages and lodges, have electricity run by Hydro or Solar Powers. Trekkers can enjoy the facilities, charging electronic items, as well with Internet and Wi-Fi services. But some smaller places like Tadapani the internet and WI-FI, are quite slow and disturbing. Due to weather and landscape wise, other places runs well with cell phone or internets.
